How To Install A Dishwasher Vinyl Wrap ("Real Time" Video)
Wrapping a Dishwasher in Copper 3M Di-Noc Architectural Vinyl Film
Materials Needed:
Copper 3M Di-Noc Architectural Vinyl Film
Measuring tape
Utility knife or vinyl cutter
Squeegee
Heat gun
Cleaning supplies (invisible glass cleaner, microfiber cloth)
Step-by-Step Process:
Preparation:
Clean the Surface: Ensure the dishwasher surface is clean and free of grease, dirt, and any other contaminants. Use a mild detergent and water to clean the surface thoroughly. Dry it with a microfiber cloth.
Measure the Surface: Use a measuring tape to measure the dimensions of the dishwasher's front panel, including any handles or protrusions.
Cutting the Vinyl:
Measure and Mark: Roll out the Copper 3M Di-Noc vinyl film on a flat, clean surface. Measure and mark the dimensions you noted earlier, adding an extra inch on each side to allow for adjustments and wrapping around edges.
Cut the Vinyl: Use a utility knife or vinyl cutter to carefully cut the vinyl to the marked dimensions.
Application:
Position the Vinyl: Peel back a few inches of the vinyl backing paper from the top edge. Position the exposed adhesive side of the vinyl at the top of the dishwasher panel, ensuring it is straight and aligned.
Adhere the Vinyl: Slowly peel away the backing paper while simultaneously smoothing the vinyl onto the surface with a squeegee. Work from the top down, applying even pressure to avoid air bubbles and wrinkles.
Handle Protrusions: If the dishwasher has a handle, carefully cut around it using the utility knife. Press the vinyl firmly around the base of the handle to ensure a snug fit.
Finishing Touches:
Heat and Smooth: Use a heat gun on a low setting to gently warm the vinyl. This makes it more pliable and easier to conform to any curves or edges. Continue using the squeegee to smooth out any remaining bubbles or wrinkles.
Trim Excess Vinyl: Once the vinyl is fully adhered and smooth, use the utility knife to trim any excess vinyl around the edges of the dishwasher panel. Ensure the cuts are clean and precise.
Seal the Edges: Apply heat again to the edges of the vinyl to ensure a strong bond and prevent lifting over time.
Final Inspection:
Inspect the entire surface to ensure the vinyl is evenly applied with no bubbles or wrinkles. Pay special attention to the edges and around any protrusions to ensure they are securely wrapped.
Your dishwasher is now transformed with a sleek, copper finish, adding a touch of modern elegance to your kitchen!
